Handel’s Messiah happens to be one of my favourite pieces. Every year the Bangkok Combined Choir organizes this free concert at the beginning of December to welcome Christmas season.

I was at the Holy Redeemer Church a bit early. It was my first time there and I would like to get the feel of the place. The church building is designed with modern architecture adding traditional Thai interior design to it. The interior looks simple and less decorative, quite modern.

Every year more than a hundred amateur choristers join this special task under the name “Bangkok Combined Choir”. A group of musicians also join the task under the name “Bangkok International Community Orchestra”. This year, some of singers and musicians experienced unnatural disastrous flood like many others Thais. Yet they still came for rehearsals regularly. Both choir and orchestra were conducted by Associate Professor Charunee Hongcharu, who produced a great spiritual rendition as always.

And I met the long lost friend – harpsichord. It’s nice to meet again.

Overall, the concert was great.
