There was another Messiah Concert organized by Chulalongkorn University Chorus Club by the end of December 2011 at the university’s Performance Hall, accompanied by CU Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pawasut Piriyapongrat, Ph.D.

CU Chorus Club is one of the famous university choral groups and usually performs in many occasions. But they hardly do Messiah at all. This is about the group’s first attempt. On the first day, the concert was held at the university’s Auditorium. I went to the second day. The chorus was well trained and well performed. Somehow, I thought there was something with the music that I didn’t like very much. Bass soloist was good. But the rest of the soloist was so, so.

Overall the presentation had a formal look, with black dress, white tie and tails. It was very grand indeed. The hall was full. That was a good sign that more and more people are interested in this kind of music. But I missed the baroque style of music and the spiritual part of the piece, really.
