There are rivers and rivers. Rivers can be narrow or wide, depending on the terrain they flow by. Waters can be rapid or slow. Each river has its own characteristic. Chao Phraya River is not very rapid, comparing to others. The day I took this photo the tide was rather high and there were waves, which did not happen often.

Taking a boat cruise along the Chao Phraya River is one cheapest way to learn the country’s history and way of life. More and more tourists have taken this kind of excursion. If they can understand native accent English, they can ask for some assistance from the person at any pier. Alternatively, they can take a cruise with meal from many riverside restaurants. But that makes it less adventurous.

Usually the boat trip along Chao Phraya River starts from south of Bangkok and goes right up to the northern adjacent province. It passes important places like the Grand Palace.

On the opposite bank there is the famous Temple of Dawn at the curve of the river. At this part, the river is always busy.
