I have a privilege to go to a charity concert celebrating 60th anniversary of The Bangkok Combined Choir. I had been looking forward to the event since one of my favourite conductor, Associate Professor Charunee Hongcharu, would conduct some pieces from Messiah.

The programme looked good. Bangkok International Community Orchestra would play for the night. The programme opened with Amazing Grace presented by famous female soloist-Rose Sirinthip. Rear Admiral Veeraphan Vawklang was the conductor.

But I was not quite comfortable with two pastors’ interception at every two songs to talk about religion. One spoke in English and the other translated into Thai. I’m not sure if others felt the same. But I thought concert and speech did not go well together, taking into account that their speech was not a sermon. After all, it was a time for music and uninterrupted music should be much more enjoyable.

Despite all that, Charunee did not disappoint the audience. She delivered yet another very good show and deserved the long, loud applause she got. Here is the link to one of the songs.
